Car Seat

Special thanks to Dear Hubby's colleagues who contributed to this pretty flowery car seat!

Vera first time in car seat!

Vera second time in her car seat sleeping.

She may look very grumpy in the above photos but she really likes her comfy car seat.

1 month old

Today Vera is officially 1 month old! Hoorayy!!! (How did i even survive this one month?)

I have to get used to bathing her and changing diapers. Most importantly is I have succeeded in breastfeeding! Well, I struggled but i pulled through! Now we are enjoying the benefits of breastfeeding.

For her: a better health as breastmilk is the best food for babies. No constipation, no allergies and no heatiness.

For me: Uterus contract to usual shape faster, slim down faster, reduce risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer.

Baby Shower

Today is 24th January 2010. Vera's first month birthday celebration is here..

Our humble abode were filled with lotsa relatives and friends. Thank them for their attendance and blessings!

However did not take any pictures as I was rather busy taking care of Vera :)

Vera awaiting for her guests to arrive

Waiting for her presents to arrive :)

Most importantly, I HAVE OFFICIALLY ENDED MY CONFINEMENT! YEAH!
I would say that confinement is worst than anything else! Worst than the pain of labour, worst than the inconvenience of pregnancy! Confinement is smelly, eat heaty food, getting used to the baby and CANNOT BATHE!

But I heck la. I bathed on the 5th day because I can't tahan the OILY HAIR ! BLEAH

Day 1 at home

Actually wanted to post Day 1, 2, 3 in hospital. But decided not to be so lor soh...

So let's advance to Day 1 at home.

Vera went home on 1 Jan 2010 (YES! I counted down alone in the hospital.! Ok there is a snoring neighbour and a TV, Iphone and Vera..But still..... lonely)

Vera on her small cot.
The bed is a bit empty because it was done in a haste as she came out earlier than expected.

Finally done up her bed.
See her dad in the background trying to read leaflets from TMC.

Day 1 in hospital

After delivery, I was pushed into the only 4-bedded room in TMC. And alot of people told me that TMC has only ONE AND ONLY ONE 4-bedded room so high possibility I will be auto upgraded to a 2-bedded ward.

So I am heng or what? Oh well, it actually doesn't matter to me because there is a separation curtain so there is still quite alot of privacy.

Anyway, for the whole night from 1130pm to this morning 630am, I could not sleep! I wonder if it is because of the hormonal change. My eyes were wide open waiting for everyone to come and visit me. How did I spend my night awake? Use the iphone!! lolz..Luckily I decided to purchase the iphone before my labour! Phew! All thanks to friend Celestine who entertains me through whatsapp and the facebook online.

Missy Nurse came in at 630am to wake up and pass urine. WTF! I was so scare to get off the bed! Was afraid that my stitches would just "pit chiak".

Labour

Vera "popped" out of me on 29 Dec 2009.. What an exciting day! EDD was supposed to be on 11 Jan 2010. And I hoped Vera could be borned in 2010 so that she would have a headstart advantage to her peers but, oh well, she decides to come meet papa and mama earlier!

The whole labour process was drama-mama! Actually on 28 Dec 2009 (Monday), there was slight show (bleeding) appearing, so I decided to rest at home and wait for D-Day from 29 Dec 2009 onwards (my maternity leave starts on 4 Jan 2010). Since EDD was supposed to be on 11 Jan, I reckoned I still have some time to have a hair cut and do some pedicure and facial so that I will feel prettier during confinement.

On 29 Dec 2009, I still went for lunch with Wengfai! Then contraction starts from 3pm and Dear Hubby and me decides to visit the doc. He puts me on the CTG scan for one hour and concluded that I could have a false contraction. He asked me to choose to stay in hospital or go home to wait for more pain. However, he could not guarantee that I could deliver within these 2 days. And if I could not deliver, I will need to be induced!

Oh well, so two of us blur blur stupid stupid went home...... and the torture of contractions begins at home from 6pm......

At 9pm, the pain was too much to bear.. I was squirming in bed and trying all sorts of positions (sounds wrong though) to make myself more comfy but the pain was unbearable.. For those who ask me to describe the pain - 50 times of your need-to-rest-in-bed-and-eat-panadol-most-painful-menses-cramp. GRRRR

So I quickly changed and decides to head to the hospital. And guess what? A huge show came out!! (means the blood plug).. Wah.. sibei ganchiong.!!. Luckily we already packed our hospital bag because we went to the hospital in the afternoon thinking we might be asked to admit.

My poor hubby drove at top speed (not very fast because Singapore's traffic is horrible) as fast as he could while I was at the back of the car SCREAMING!! SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM!!!!

Finally when reaching the hospital, my stupid waterbag burst! Poor car is a little wet but heng most of the water is soaked by my dress!

When I reached hospital at 9.45pm, I delivered at 10.30 pm. Only a short 45 minutes! Of course I chose to take epidural. In fact, I was DEMANDING it. But it was too late, I was already 9 cm dilated!!!! (10 cm to give birth). I scolded the nurse, scolded everybody upside down! I screamed until my throat is sore and "pop" comes Vera (what a relieve!)

Weighing at a mere 2.375kg, Vera is abit underweight. So she has to be on a strictly 3-hourly feed. Doc blames me for not resting enough. But oh well, I will be resting for a one whole month of confinement, of course I have to go and enjoy while I am still free!

Vera's first photo when popped out. See her purple hands!

See her staring at the camera

Signs of victory. Yay! (I was abit concussed cos of the laughing gas)
